Mint Julep
- Make a syrup of half water and half sugar. One cup of each goes a long way. Heat it until the sugar melts.
- Pick about a cup of mint and let it steep in the warm syrup off the stove for an hour or two.
- Crush lots of ice and fill a small cup with ice.
- Pour half a shot of sugar-mint syrup and one shot of bourbon to taste. Keep stirring until the cup gets frosted. Cut a straw to just above the top of the cup and add a sprig of mint to the top so you can smell it when you drink it.
