I have a group of blue jays in my front yard. Not sure how close they live together, but I seem to have a lot of them. This is the second time they have chased a hawk away from their nests. They squawk like sirens and fly from branch to branch frenetically to make the hawk go away.
When the hawk finally does leave, 10 or more blue jays follow in hot pursuit, squawking the whole time. They make noise for 15 minutes or more.
Doesn't nature have a great way of protecting itself?
