Rust History

This is a page from the Dan's family album. Louis came from Germany in 1903 with his family. He soon became an orphan and was sent to a farm in midstate Illinois. He ended up graduating from University of Illinois in 1923, and then marrying the farmers daughter from the farm he was sent to! She went to University of Illinois too, no small feat in those days! Here is Louis' graduation photo from U of I. I graduated 60 years later from the University of Illinois....imagine that, a Michigan gal graduating from the same school my husbands family went to in Illinois!
The other photo are two of his siblings Elsie and Henry, they were all split up as children and went to different homes and farms to live. How sad. There are two young siblings that they completely lost track of in the split.
