I made this drawing in 1981.I made it after visiting the Illinois State Capitol during the time they were voting on the Equal Rights Amendment. As you can see from the paper airplanes thrown from the balcony that I had opinions! Nothing has changed! Still fighting for justice!
This drawing was made at the same time. It is not a clear photo of the drawing (sorry!) It is a depiction of women on a hunger strike in the Illinois State Capital. These women were ready to risk their lives for the ERA. They were all very weak and thin. I will never forget them. Who would ever have thought that we are fighting again for reproductive rights, and that the ERA is still not law! It says Women Hunger for Justice.
