This is a close up from day one of my watercolor painting of my amaryllis. I will paint it again when it opens up in a few days. I left some room on the right of the paper to put the blooming flower in. My mother always had an amaryllis when I was growing up, and my friend Alice now buys me one every year for Christmas. They grow so fast, almost like magic. They never cease to amaze me.
